Beater of the Week
There are all sorts of different vehicles – every color, every model, every shape, and every size. Every few weeks the SFHS Media team scours the SFHS parking lot for a Beater of the Week.
A beater is a car or truck that is high mileage, older than 2005, that the person doesn’t really care if it gets dented, scratched, or even sometimes smashed up. At SFHS, we have a lot of “beaters” in the parking lot.
Meet Cole Dryden, and his 2000 Ford 7.3 Power Stroke. It isn’t just your average 7.3.
“I have a turbo, tune, injectors, and the flatbed,” said Dryden.
With a smirk, he said that he deserved to be recognized as Beater of the Week because his truck is a rust bucket and that he beats the (expletive deleted) out of it.”
One big feature on his truck is the hood-stack.
“It’s where the exhaust comes out, so I can see all the coal it rolls,” he said. “It also adds 10 horsepower.”
It seemed as that was his favorite part of the truck considering the condition the truck is in. Dryden likes the attention.
“The tune makes it whistle when I go down the road,” he said. “All the eyes turn to the flatbed.”
Another feature that makes his truck special is that he managed to tape Christmas lights with electrical tape all around the outside of the truck to light up at night.
“Im really feeling the Christmas spirit this year,” he said. “I have them running through my door into a cigarette lighter.”
