Just shortly after beginning the 2012-2013 school year, the IMC announced that they would begin selling coffee and other hot beverages for the “everyday low price” of just $1.50. For years the IMC was just the St. Francis High School library as well as the quiet study center, but with the busy schedules of many high school students, the IMC decided to add a new amenity.
“Students, especially our non-traditional students, need a place to relax,” said IMC Director, Steven Fetzik.
IMC staff barista’s chose the Keurig brand K-Cups, as they allow for hot and fresh cups for every customer. When asking some students of their opinion on the coffee, the reviews were mixed.
“The hot chocolate was good,”said Freshman Chue Cheng Yang, “but the coffee could have used creamer.”
If you take your coffee on the lighter side, sweeteners and creamers may be added to your liking.
Other students though, seem to have a different opinion on the beverage options. Brittany Galbrecht, a Junior, tried the hot chocolate but was not as pleased as Yang. She had only tried it once, and she’s not sure she’ll be going back any time soon.
As of now, the IMC staff is pleased with how the sales are going, and they find that they sell more every day.
IMC Director Steven Fetzik reminds those of us who aren’t coffee drinkers, “We will be offering hot cider in a few weeks.”
