The Hunger Games return to theaters
Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire lights up nation
Catching Fire blew up in theaters on Friday, November 22, 2013. Theaters were sold out for the midnight showing. Showings happening later on that day were packed to the screen, causing the viewers a neck strain as Katniss continued her role as the ‘girl on fire’.
The first movie of the Hunger Games series was about an era where the government has strict control of 12 districts. Each district has it’s own niche and lack of money. District 12 is the home to Katniss Everdeen and her family, as well as Peeta Mellark and his family. Each child in the districts has their name put into a drawing for the annual Hunger Games. A male and female is chosen from each district, shipped to the capitol, made pawns of the Capitol’s entertainment, and fight to the death to win the games.
Typically there is only one winner of the games, although when Katniss and Peeta began to play their game with a spin of romance, there ended up being two winners of the games.
The results of those games sparked hope in the eyes of the poor citizens under the control of the government, Catching Fire is the sequel to continue to story. The government does not like the idea of anyone having hope for an uprising, and will do whatever they can to stop the madness.
Catching Fire contains serious acting, as well as bits of humor. The effects in the movie really capture the attention of the audience due to the grey scale used on the scenes involving poor districts, and bright and colorful scenes of the Capitol. Sound effects greatly add to the scenes in the movie, giving the audience a chance to feel as if they are there along with the cast of the movie.
Not only does this movie capture the hearts of those seeking romance but there are also many plot twists and adventure scenes. This movie really keeps you on the edge of your seat because the spontaneous events that occur keep you wanting more.
