The gymnastics team is facing a challenging season. With a 1-6 record, the squad has struggled with injuries and a smaller roster. During the season the team didn’t have a full varsity, But despite the setbacks, captain Quinn Reid is determined to finish strong.
“It’s been a good season, but we’ve been dealing with a lot of injuries,” she said. “We already have a smaller team, so that’s been pretty hard, but I am excited to see how the rest of the season goes.”
Quinn’s dedication and leadership have been evident from an early age, and she often reflects on her journey with the team.
“This is my sixth year on the high school gymnastics team, and my third year as a captain. I was put into it at a really young age.”
As captain, Quinn’s role extends beyond competing. She works to support the younger gymnasts and help them get the most out of the experience. The younger girls have to look up to the upper classmen a lot, and figure out how to navigate being on a high school team as middle schoolers.
“I try to help the younger girls feel more welcomed on the team,” Reid said. “I push everyone to do their best.”
The team still has four meets left in the season. With Senior Night taking place on January 28, Quinn knows the end is near and she’s determined to finish strong in the final weeks of her gymnastics career.
“I’m hoping to get a couple more upgrades in before the season ends and just finish off the season strong, competing with the people that I love,” Reid said.
